Water and Sanitation squables hit Champongo

By Given Siakwambwa

Champongo is located about 10km North-West of Lusulu Business Center as well as East of Kabuba Primary School. people and animals in this area encounter the water problems as the area has few water sources.

People and domestic animals during the rainy season survive on unsafe water from Champongo pond which is open and not manageable to produce safe water for human consumption. As a result, the community is infested with water-born diseases.

During the dry season, Champongo residents drive their livestock and walk for about 7km to springs in Chitongo carrying large buckets of water on their heads for home use.

The community therefore pleads for help from government departments and organisations running the Water and Sanitation Project in Binga district to to alleviate the water problem which the community suffers from.
